Sports Injury & Deep Tissue Massage

sports_injury_therapyAt The Chandos Clinic, our practitioner treats a wide range of muscle and joint related problems and injuries using a variety of treatment techniques.

Sports Massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, ligaments and tendons. It aids sporting performance, helps reduce the risk of injury and assists recovery in injured sports people. It is also said to have a positive psychological effect on athletes preparing for competition.

Counterstrain, or Positional Release, is a very gentle approach for painful areas around joints and soft-tissue which may not respond to deep techniques. By locating the start and the end of a muscle, and by using the body's own levers areas of pain can be taken out of strain.

Deep Tissue Massage is an intense and popular type of therapy working on the deeper muscles and connective tissues for a variety of complaints. It can be both relaxing and invigorating.

Tui Na is an independent aspect of Chinese medicine which uses various deep-kneading, stretching and mobilizing techniques to manipulate muscles and joints, bringing about a normal range of movement.

As part of the treatment, the practitioner will advise on exercises and injury management to enhance the treatment, your recovery and your wellbeing.
